DESCRIPTION:Join the Frontier Culture Museum for the 3rd annual Fiber Festival. Join us for a day of sheep shearing\, fiber vendors\, sheep herding demonstrations\, and more. Please note that the fiber festival programs are included with General Museum Admission. \n\nGeneral Museum Admission\nAdult: $12.00\nSenior: $ 9.00\nStudent (ages 13-college): $11.00\nChild (ages 6-12): $7.00\nChildren Under Age 6: Free\n\n\n\n\nAdditional Workshop \nJoin the museum at 10 AM\, 1 PM\, or 3 PM for an Introduction to Portuguese Knitting Workshop! Each session is an hour and half long and is $15. This workshop will introduce knitters of all levels to an ergonomic style of knitting that lessens small movements of the wrists and simplifies basic stitch styles (such as ribbing) by only working with the yarn in front. This style is good for knitting while walking or standing\, knitting in the round\, garter stitch\, ribbing\, and long\, sometimes monotonous stretches of stockinette. If using multiple knitting pins\, it prevents color work from becoming tangled or lacking tension. This is an especially quick style. While it helps with those who have issues with wrist and finger joints\, it involves heavy thumb movement and would not be suited to knitters with arthritis in their thumbs. \nParticipants must bring their own needles and yarn\, but it can be any size or style. It must be something the participants are alright with holding around their neck. Participants must know how to cast on and how to perform a knit and purl stitch. The festival is filled with opportunities and events focusing on all aspects of fiber and more! Classes on many different ways to use fiber will be offered. We will also have demonstrations\, competitions\, festival memorabilia\, fleeces for sale\, and more. Our vendors offer yarns\, various raw and finished fibers\, the animals they come from\, buttons to spinning and weaving equipment\, rugs and purses to hats and sweaters\, jewelry\, art\, pottery\, and many other lovely items! \n\nClarke County Ruritan Fairgrounds \n890 West Main Street\, Berryville\, Virginia 22611 \n\nParking instructions\n\n\nFrom west-bound Business Rt. 7 through Berryville\, after the traffic circle\, turn right before the Taekwondo/Dance Studio. Follow the dirt road to get to parking. you show your ticket as you walk in. From east-bound Business Rt. 7\, drive toward downtown\, and use the traffic circle so you can make a right turn like the directions above! It’s safer! There is a big SVFF sign opposite from the entrance off Business Rt. 7. Feel the warmth of holiday cheer and the visit Santa after seeing the bunnies and yarn. \nFrom the Yorktown Visitors website: \nIf you are a fan of the German Christmas Markets\, then you’ll love the Christmas Market on Main Street!  This two-day (Dec. 6-7) event is one of the most anticipated every holiday season. \nClose to 100 vendors line the street selling everything from glass ornaments and handmade soaps to Christmas wreaths and jewelry! The Town Crier will ring in the market at 10 a.m. on Saturday\, followed by a performance from the Fifes and Drums of York Town. Then\, Santa Claus himself will ride in on York County’s first fire truck\, before mingling with the crowd to greet families. Craft stations and strolling musical entertainment add to the festive atmosphere. \n The free\, accessible Yorktown Trolley will be in operation beginning at 11 a.m. during this event. \n  \nSaturday hours are 10am to 3pm. \nSunday hours are 11am to 3pm.
